Patrick Bell Design LLC

Welcome to the portfolio of Patrick Bell Design LLC, a graphic design studio that specializes in visual communication design, including print and publication design, museum exhibition graphics, information graphics, digital design, and corporate identity.

Patrick Bell Design opened its first office in Manhattan in September 2001 and has been based in Virginia since 2005. Over the past two decades, clients have included the American Museum of Natural History, the New York Public Library, the University of Virginia, Vanderbilt University, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Chrysler Museum of Art, and the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia, as well as numerous small businesses and nonprofit organizations. This online portfolio also includes samples of Patrick’s work on staff at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (2010–12).

Patrick Bell holds degrees in architecture from Virginia Tech (1988–94) and Yale University (1994–96). While at Yale, his studies in typography and design—with instructors including Inge Druckrey and Alvin Eisenman—led to formative experience in New York, where he worked in exhibition, interactive, and print design at ESI Design (Edwin Schlossberg Inc.) and the American Museum of Natural History.

Patrick has also taught typography, communication design, and design theory as an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design and Virginia Commonwealth University. For more on his academic experience, see here.

As of July 2025, Patrick Bell Design LLC is an active Limited Liability Company in the Commonwealth of Virginia, an active vendor in the federal System for Award Management (sam.gov), and an active vendor/supplier in Virginia’s electronic procurement system (eva.virginia.gov).
